Our Why

We are seeking to raise $5,000 to represent Indiana State University in this year’s Airventure Cup Race and subsequent fly-in to EAA Airvenutre Oshkosh. ISU has a history of competing in the Airventure Cup Race and has brought back many winning accolades. It has been some years since students have competed though and we hope to bring back the tradition of competing in the race.

The AirVenture Cup Cross-Country Air Race (AVC) is the world’s premier amateur open-circuit air race open to all experimental and factory-built aircraft. The race begins at Wausau Airport in central Wisconsin and the course weaves 500 miles above northern Wisconsin and the upper peninsula of Michigan. After the race concludes most of the racers fly into Airventure Oshkosh and enjoy the week of aviation activities. The AVC has become a highly visible component of EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, and embodies the resourcefulness, inclusiveness, and volunteer spirit that are the hallmarks of both the Experimental Aircraft Association and AirVenture Oshkosh. Airventure Oshkosh is the largest aviation convention in the world and attracts hundreds of thousands of attendees. Having an ISU aircraft in the Airventure Cup Race and at Oshkosh will be highly visible and bring awareness to not only our great aviation program but the University as a whole. 

We would like to compete in the race to put the flight training we have received at ISU into a real world scenario and gain valuable experience we can take into our future careers. The event will also allow us to network with  more seasoned pilots and learn from their years of aviation experience. Your sponsorship would allow us to gain valuable real-world aviation experience, build our industry connections, and represent Indiana State University on a national stage.
