Timmy Global Health

We are "Timmy", student members of the Timmy Global Health chapter at Indiana State University, and we seek your support!

Timmy Global Health is an Indianapolis-based nonprofit organization that expands access to healthcare and empowers students to attack today’s global health challenges, both locally and abroad.  Our chapter sends teams of medical professionals and undergraduates to Ecuador two times a year.  We partner with local organizations to provide medical services to the underserved communities of Guangaje in the Andes Highlands.  Over 120 ISU students have participated in these medical brigades since 2015.

On our May 2024 brigade we met with four patients whose needs exceeded the level of care we were prepared to provide.  We need your financial support to provide that care.  Below we provide brief biographical information.  Three patients seek prosthetics from recent amputations.  All three have scheduled initial consultations with local providers in September or October.  A fourth patient is undergoing periodic cancer treatments in Quito, two hours from his home.  The Patronato (local government health organization) can only provide partial support for these patients.  The cost to the patient is a large fraction of the annual income for their family.  We seek $2000 from donors to support these patients.

Thank you for any support that you provide!

Alex is 19 years old and lives in Zumbahua, near the Quilotoa volcano.  He was involved in a motorcycle accident in April 2024 and lost a foot.

Luis is 68 years old.  Both of his legs were amputated due to poorly controlled type-2 diabetes.

Jerson is 8 years old and lives in Miraflores.  Jerson has jaw cancer.  He needs occasional transportation to Quito for cancer treatments.  The Patronato pays for the treatments but not for transportation.

Luis is 18 years old and lives in Pujili.  Luis had bone cancer and lost the lower portion of his left leg.
